Who we are

Women’s Aid is a grassroots federation working together to provide life-saving services and build a future where domestic violence is not tolerated.

Women’s Aid is underpinned by fundamental feminist values which for us means being anti-racist and inclusive in all that we do.

Women’s Aid as an organisation is founded on women’s struggle against patriarchy, sexism and male violence and grew out of the women’s movement in the 1970s.

Today we take an intersectional approach to our work to eradicate domestic violence and abuse and stand with other feminist organisations leading the way in eradicating Violence Against Women and Girls.

Farah Nazeer started as chief executive of Women’s Aid on 1st March 2021. A charity executive with over 20 years of director-level experience, Farah is passionate about women’s rights. She has worked on women’s rights and gender issues for most of her career and is committed to feminist principles of leadership including courage, sharing of power and accountable collaboration.
