Bringing you the facts about domestic abuse

Women’s Aid is the national federation for domestic abuse services in England. Our Evidence Hub gives you access to research and information about domestic abuse, and the impact it has on women and children.

The strength of our research lies in its access to our flagships datasets, covering the experiences of survivors at every stage of their journey, and the services supporting them. Our cutting edge service directory, monitoring and case management tools are used by services beyond our membership, including dedicated providers and housing associations. They build the most complete picture of the sector available.

Quality and ethics provide the backbone of our own research and, with our partners, we created the Research Integrity Framework to establish high standards of evidence for domestic abuse.

The Women’s Aid research team provides regularly published reports, custom research for policy and practice teams, and evaluation of new innovations in the field. By collaborating with academics, and working closely to inform public policy at every level, our research aims to put the real-life experiences of survivors at the heart of decision-making.

Custom reports for local authorities

Women’s Aid Federation of England is offering local authorities a detailed report on the provision of accommodation based domestic abuse services in your area, to support with implementation of the statutory duty included in the domestic abuse bill. To support local authorities in preparing for their obligations under the duty, which includes a requirement to conduct a full needs assessment, Women’s Aid is able to provide you with an up-to-date picture of provision in your area. This would include:

  • Providers in your area.
  • The quality assurance and membership status of these providers.
  • The types of support provided (including refuge, outreach, advocacy etc.), specialist support provision for survivors who face different forms of discrimination, and support for male victims.
  • A profile of refuge spaces in your area – including how many spaces exist, what size rooms, the commissioning of refuge spaces, what support types are available to women in refuge, and barriers women face to accessing refuge.

Further detail on the report that Women’s Aid can provide, for a fixed cost, is available below. To find out more or to request your report please contact Sarah Davidge, Research and Evaluation Manager at Women’s Aid on [email protected]
